Nutrition and Disabilities Club

As artistic coordinator of the Nutrition and Disabilities Club (NADC), a student organization committed to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities, I create educational materials and workshops for those who experience challenges in the kitchen. The NADC workshops allow me to personally help individuals who face barriers to healthy eating, whether it be physical, economical or educational challenges. I have contributed to the club by offering modified recipes and cooking demonstrations in order to make common obstacles in the community less intimidating. Working with a group of individuals excited to benefit from nutrition education has become one of my most rewarding and impactful experiences; it has taught me to apply my knowledge in a comprehensive, engaging, inclusive and informed format.

As member and artistic coordinator I:

  • Develop and present nutrition education workshops for individuals in the community with limited mobility and/or cognitive disabilities

  • Demonstrate easy and simple methods to plan and prepare meals with a focus on simple solutions for physical and/or cognitive challenges

  • Create healthful eating newsletters and recipe books for the community

Below are examples of my work in the club from fall semester 2021:
